Our Practice has always tried to remain at the forefront in providing advanced facilities for both diagnosis and treatment within the Primary Care setting. Because we are split over three sites however, we have had to rationalise some of the more specialised areas of provision and may be helpful for patients to understand what services are done at the three individual sites.
Core facilities include furnished consulting/examination rooms, smear taking, phlebotomy (normally via the Healthcare Assistant) and full resuscitation equipment including defibrillators.
Braithwell Surgery Facilities
Please note at our smallest site in Braithwell, due to the more restricted space and opening hours, the Healthcare Assistant/phlebotomy service currently operates once a week on a Wednesday morning. Braithwell patients requiring the attention of the Practice nurse or ancillary staff such as counsellors, midwives etc would normally travel to Morthen Road or Ravenfield for this purpose, whichever is the more convenient.
Additional facilities at Braithwell surgery consist of the on-site dispensary. Unfortunately due to restrictions in dispensing regulations, only patients eligible by means of their home address are allowed dispensing rights. Patients attending Braithwell surgery who reside outside the permitted area will be issued a prescription to take to a nearby pharmacy in the usual way. If in doubt whether you qualify for dispensing, please ask the Braithwell reception staff.
Ravenfield Surgery Facilities
Ravenfield surgery in addition to offering the full range of services and staff as our main site at Morthen Road, houses a purpose built large treatment room and minor operation suite containing additional equipment for electrocautery and cryotherapy along with an on-site store of liquid nitrogen. Patients throughout the Practice requiring minor surgical procedures will therefore need to visit Ravenfield for this purpose. Ravenfield also has its own 24hr BP machine, spirometer, ear syringing equipment and audiogram machine to avoid patients' needs to travel to Morthen Road for these procedures.
Morthen Road Surgery Facilities
Morthen Road surgery is our main site for administrative purposes, but also traditionally has served the largest proportion of our registered patients from the days when it was important that patients attended the same site each time as their paper-based records were held. Since our practice now runs a modern "paper-lite" system, this is less important, but Morthen Road still continues to be the site where there is highest demand and consequently most provision in terms of surgeries and additional staff is required. In addition, our extended access service is only provided at Wickersley. Consequently, car parking can at difficult at times and be more of an issue than it is at our other two sites. However, on the other hand, being more centrally located, it is by far the easiest site to access by public transport which is something patients may like to consider when planning their visit. Morthen Road surgery has its own 24hr BP machine, spirometer, ear syringing equipment and audiogram machine.
